    Tips to Answer Mizzou Secondaries

Mizzou Secondaries Pre-Writing Guidance: This is a great secondary application to start pre-writing and we would try to submit this by the end of July.

University of Missouri Medical School Secondary Application Tip #1: If you have any affiliation with the University of Missouri, the city of Columbia, or Missouri state, please mention the affiliations in the Mizzou secondary application.

University of Missouri Medical School Secondary Application Tip #2: For any University of Missouri Medical School secondary application prompt that asks you about unique traits or diversity, remember that diversity does not necessarily mean your ethnic diversity. We often tell students to talk about their extra-curricular activities, personal strengths, leadership roles, and other passions. It is important to write how these qualities will make you an excellent physician.

University of Missouri Medical School Secondary Application Tip #3: For the Mizzou secondaries question, “How will you contribute to an inclusive learning environment at the medical school and the practice of medicine” we recommend writing a story that shows how you can work in an inclusive environment or how you have created an inclusive environment. For example, one applicant wrote about creating an inclusive environment when being a camp counselor for Camp Kesem.

University of Missouri Medical School Secondary Application Tip #4: For the University of Missouri secondary application question about re-applying, it’s very important to discuss the following in the re-applicant essay:

    • Reflections about why your application was not as strong last cycle.
    • How you addressed the weaknesses.
    • Clinical opportunities you’ve improved. Reflect on what you learned about patient care.
    • For Mizzou, any volunteer experiences, clinical experiences, patient care, or visits to Missouri will be a plus!
