After you purchase your package, Dr. Rishi Mediratta & Dr. Rachel Rizal will email and learn more about your background and interests.
It's crunch time! We will start working with you to plan your medical school application, including medical school letters of recommendation and a customized school list. We will also start editing your medical school personal statement and AMCAS work & activities descriptions.
Dr. Rachel Rizal and Rishi Mediratta will be your application coaches. We love mentoring and advising. We see ourselves as your mentors for life! 🙂
Dr. Rachel Rizal and Dr. Rishi Mediratta will be the doctors editing your AMCAS work & activities, personal statement, and secondary essays. We do not hire other consultants. So rest assured, you will receive top-tier feedback!
Offering unlimited revisions allows us to guide students through the entire writing process. In the first draft, we focus on the overall structure, narrative, and organization. In subsequent drafts, we help with intra-paragraph organization, topic sentences, and crafting solid reflections within stories. Finally, as essays near submission, we review grammar, tone, sentence structure, and word choice. Our essay feedback is extremely individualized, and we meet students wherever they are in the writing process. If necessary, we provide both big-picture and grammar feedback across all your essays, depending on the state of your draft! Everything we do is highly personalized.
Many of the students we’ve worked with for medical school applications are now our advisees for residency applications. That shows the level of trust, success, and long-term mentorship our mentees have when working with us!
You definitely want physicians to be reading and editing your essays! Dr. Rizal and Dr. Mediratta will be reading all your essays, so you will be in great hands. We do not outsource your essays to anyone else.
First, your essays will be stronger because we have knowledge about clinical medicine. For example, let’s say that you write about a trauma patient that you had in the Emergency Department. Dr. Rizal and Dr. Mediratta will first check for the clinical accuracy as you paint a riveting story. But that’s not all – we will use our clinical knowledge to push you more: What insights did you learn from this patient encounter? What did you learn about being a great physician?
Another advantage is that we understand a career in medicine. As you can read from our bios, we have interdisciplinary careers that have intertwined clinical medicine, public health, public policy, research, global health, business, and entrepreneurship. Many students are inspired by our backgrounds, and we help students think about how they want to craft their careers. Then, we have students write their career ideas in their secondary application essays. Our students display their passions in medicine + other aspects of healthcare in a way that makes them stand out! This is especially important for getting accepted to mid-tier to top-tier schools as well as schools with an urban health / community health focus.
Finally, Dr. Rizal and Dr. Mediratta are physicians who understand medical school and residency applications. We have a deep understanding of the clinical curriculum and what makes different medical schools different. Why does this matter? Because in your secondary essays and interviews, you will be asked, “Why do you want to go to this medical school?” We will guide you as to what makes each med school stand out and let you know if your reasons to go to a specific medical school are too generic. Our goal is to help you stand out. We will make sure that you convince the admissions committees with personalized reasons as to why you should get admitted!
We aim to turnaround your edits within 48 hours. We start reading your application materials, strategizing, and editing essays the same you send them. The turnaround time depends on the deadline, what medical school you are working on, how many secondary essays there are for a given school (secondary applications), what draft you are working on, and how well you write. In general, we like speaking with every student before he or she signs up for an application package. Please email us directly at info@crackingmedadmissions.com or contact us below so we can explain our process and understand your situation.
Your interviewers will be the Cracking Med School Admissions interview team. The ideal mix of your mock interviews will be half of your interviews with Dr. Mediratta or Dr. Rizal and the other half with the other individuals on our interview team.
We have found that this is a great combination because we want to make sure you can convey your strengths and narrative to individuals who don’t know you (have not read your essays or have not chatted with you through premed advising). You will have to “sell yourself” to somebody who you don’t know, and this better simulates what you have to do in your real medical school interviews.
All our medical school interviewers have been trained and vetted by Dr. Rizal and Dr. Mediratta. Everyone on our interview team is A+ quality 🙂
We will ask you details about your medical school interview. What medical school? What’s the interview format? When is your interview?
Then, we will schedule a mock interview with you.
Each mock interview is typically 75 to 90 minutes. During this time, we will ask you several questions and give you our frank and direct feedback. If we need to practice some responses again and again, we will do so. This interview preparation is personalized and tailored for each student to shine!
The Mastering the Multiple Mini Interview course was created by Dr. Rachel Rizal. The course is the GOLD STANDARD if you want to stand out on your MMIs. It helps students create frameworks to be ready for any type of Multiple Mini Interview question for their interview day! Additionally, there are timed practice questions and practice tests. For more information about the course content, please visit this website: Mastering the Multiple Mini Interview Online Course
The Mastering the Multiple Mini Interview course is included in the Diamond and Diamond Plus packages. Almost all students who purchase a Silver or Gold package will add the MMI course a la carte if they receive a Multiple Mini Interview invitation.
