Dr. Rachel Rizal and Dr. Rishi Mediratta will be the ones who edit your AMCAS work & activities, personal statement and secondary essays. We do not hire other consultants. So rest assured, you will have top-tier feedback!

Our edits our thorough. Unlimited edits has allowed us to work with students throughout the entire writing process. Our edits in our first draft feedback about the overall structure, narrative, and organization. In the next set of drafts, we are working with students on intra-paragraph organization, topic sentences, and solid reflections in their stories. Finally, as essays are ready for submission, we keep a look out for grammar, tone, sentence structure, and word choice. Essay edits are fluid and we meet students where they are in the writing process, so we may end up giving your big picture and grammar feedback in all your essays, if that is the state of your draft! Again, everything we do is very personalized.

Many of our students who have worked with us for their medical school applications are now our advisees for residency applications. 

You definitely want physicians to be reading and editing your essays! Dr. Rizal and Dr. Mediratta  will be reading all your essays, so you will be in great hands.  We do not outsource your essays to anyone else. 

First, your essays will be stronger because we have knowledge about clinical medicine. For example, let’s say that you write about a patient trauma that you had in the Emergency Room. Dr. Rizal and Dr. Mediratta will first check for the clinical accuracy as you paint a riveting story. But that’s not all – we will use our clinical knowledge to push you more: What insights did you learn from this patient encounter? What did you learn about being a great physician?

Another advantage is that we understand a career in medicine. As you can read from our bios, we have interdisciplinary careers that have intertwined clinical medicine, public health, public policy, research, global health, business, and entrepreneurship. Many students are inspired by our backgrounds, and we help students think about how they want to craft their careers. Then, we have students write their ideas in their secondary application essays. Our students display their passions in medicine + other aspects of healthcare in a way that makes them stand out! This is especially important for getting accepted to mid-to-top-tier schools as well as schools with a urban health / community health focus.

Finally, Dr. Rizal and Dr. Mediratta are physicians you understand medical school and residency applications. We have a deep understanding of clinicl curriculum and what makes different medical schools different. Why does this matter? Because in your secondary essays and interviews, you will be asked, “why do you want to go to this medical school?” We will guide you as to what makes each med school stand out and let you know if your reasons to go to a specific medical school is too generic. Our goal is to help you stand out, and we will make sure that you convince the admissions committees with personalized reasons as to why you should get admitted!

We aim to turnaround your edits within 48 hours. We start reading your application materials, strategizing, and editing essays the same you send them.

Your interviewers will be the Cracking Med School Admissions interview team. The ideal mix of your mock interviews will be half of your interviews with Dr. Mediratta or Dr. Rizal and the other half with the other individuals on our interview team who have not edited all your essays. 

We have found that this is a great combination because we want to make sure you can convey your strengths and narrative to individuals who don’t know you, similar to what you have to do in your real medical school interviews.

We will ask you details about your medical school interview. What medical school? What’s the interview format? When is your interview?

Then, we will schedule a mock interview with you. 

Each mock interview is 60 to 75 minutes. During this time, we will ask you several questions and give you our frank and direct feedback. If we need to practice some responses again and again, we can do so. This interview preparation is personalized and tailored for each student to shine!

The Mastering the Multiple Mini Interview course was created by Dr. Rachel Rizal. It helps students create frameworks to be ready for any type of Multiple Mini Interview question for their interview day! Additionally, there are timed practice questions and practice tests.
